Hardy Chicago Fig

Cold Tolerant and Delicious.  This variety is also known as a Mt. Etna type fig.  These figs have beautiful club shaped lobes on their leaves.  They can handle temperatures down to 5 to 10 degrees. They are quite precocious and will fruit early in the growing season which makes them ideal for areas with shorter summers and brief growing seasons.  Typcially they will grow in a bush form and do well in the ground as well as in a container for any patio or garden space.  They have nice dark skin and sweet pulp with tones of honey and berry. It's an excellent workhorse variety for anyone looking to get into figs!  Here in Wilmington, NC they grow very well and can grow as a tree or a bush and will behave as an ever-bearing tree ripening figs throughout the late summer into the early fall.
