White Genoa Fig

This White Genoa fig variety I originally received in 2013 from Joe Morle - A plant nursery owner who specialized in fig trees.  His shop was located in Boston, MA and he introduced an amazing selection of varieties to the fig world.

This white genoa variety has been delicious and does well not only in cold climates, but in more humid climates as well!  It has a light green skin and a pink to red interior.  This fig to me tastes like a watermelon jolly rancher and had a distinctive pink ostiole when it ripens that reminds me of a very old less talked about fig variety call Saratoga (via encanto farms). This variety I purchased from Joe long ago and well as my White Triana tree and a few other of his varieties. 

There are a few White Genoa fig varieties in circulation (which makes sense I'm sure there's more than one white fig in all of Genoa (Genova), IT!).  However, this one stands out to me as a unique flavor and a beautiful full 3-lobed leaf.  Enjoy!
